(Eraldo Peres/AP) By MontserratMontserrat is a 4th grader who wants to stop global warming. I read an article on NewsELA about the Amazon rainforest fires. There have been 74,155 fires this year. Some people start the fires on purpose and sometimes on accident, but the problem is that those fires are making global warming worse. The forest holds carbon dioxide and without the trees the carbon dioxide goes into the air, making it worse for global warming.
It's very hard to stop these fires because the president of Brazil wants more farming and mining so he doesn't want the forests saved. People don't agree with how the Brazilian president is using the land and effecting global warming. If we don't put out the fires, the rainforest will be changing and it won't get better. The situation won't get better unless we put the fires out and start protecting the Amazon rainforest.
