First Raina went to the dentist. She went to a girl scout meeting and tripped and fell. She had blood and one teeth fell out and the other one went into her gum line. Her mom and dad came and the dad took her home. The mom went to find the other tooth.
They went to the doctor and he checked her mouth, and he said that the other tooth went inside the gum line. So they were going to have to put fake teeth in her mouth. Raina got to stay home from school. Her mom and sister didn't really seem to care about the teeth.
Raina's mom brings them to a toy store to buy a video game. Raina got to choose the game because she was hurt. She choose a game, but the sister wanted a different game. Raina bought the game she wanted. They went home and Raina didn't let her sister play. Her mom talked to her littler sister and explained that Raina is in a lot pain and needed to play the video game so she could forget her teeth.
Raina went to Girl Scouts and the others were ok with her teeth. She goes to the doctor and she needs to get a few root canals to help with her teeth. She wanted to get her ears pierced, but her parents didn't let her, but she talked them into it.
Raina then goes to the dentist and they plan how they are going to put braces on her. When they put the braces on, Raina is always hurting and always saying "Ow"
A couple weeks later Raina finally gets her ears pierced. Raina tries to act grown up with Jane, but Jane thinks she's just pretending.
Raina gets a head gear for her front teeth and doesn't like it. Then she realizes she's getting pimples.
Raina is at the dentist a lot because of her front teeth. She wishes she didn't have to do this.
By eighth grade, her teeth move closer to the middle. She still has braces though.
She signs for basketball, but she's not good. She didn't make it on the list, so she's not on the team. Her dad gets mad because she could have hurt her teeth.
She has more dentist appointments and her gum line turns purple because of how the doctor pushed her gum line. The mom was angry with the dentist because Raina fainted. Raina was proud that her mom protected her.
At the end of the book, her teeth finally are as good as she wanted it. She got her smile.
