I woke up as soon as the sun shone down on me. I saw the whole tribe start to wake up on their mats. The boys and men stared to go out on a hunt, while I stayed at home at camp. Then, I took my basket and went to gather some acorns and pine nuts. I had to get the acorns off with a pole. I saw a stream, so I got drinking water. Then, I heard a sound and when I looked up, I saw an eagle high on the sky. I knew it would a good day. After, I had some breakfast.
Once the sun is high in the sky, I started to learn how to make baskets and pottery. It was very hard and I make some mistakes. Then, I make acorn bread. First, I have to grind acorns into flour. Next, I have to dig a pit near a creek and pour the flour in it to make it sweet. After, I get ready for the ceremony tomorrow, by making life-size images of those who died. Then, our tribe eats lunch. When the moon rises, we make a fire and the chief settles arguments between the tribe. An owl swoops down near a branch next to the fire. We know tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day. We put out the fire and everyone goes to their huts. I lay down on my mat and peacefully rest.
