COVID-19 is called COVID-19 because it started in 2019 and it is originally called Coronavirus. The Covid outbreak started in Wuhan, China. It was a massive disease around the world.
The outbreak was so bad that it shut down school, sports, and restaurants, and a lot of people got laid off their jobs. People stopped having huge gatherings and had to stay 6 feet apart. We also have to use masks in public and in stores

What effects it has: Not a lot of people had toilet paper and water, so soon people started going to stores really early in the morning for stuff they need. People on ebay and other shopping websites started raising their prices for toilet paper and other things that we need. Some people even buy a lot of boxes of masks and hand sanitizer. This outbreak made people go crazy and worried.

In December 2020 they came up with a vaccine. First they had to see if it was safe for the adults. After they tested it, it was safe only for people over 65. Currently doctors are seeing if the vaccine is safe for kids. Just recently March  1, 2021 LAUSD employees and food management were able to get vaccinated.  Our President Joe Biden also got vaccinated. If most of the world received the vaccine, The world would be safe!

This is how COVID-19 is affecting the world.
